After a period of construction with the funds contributed by numerous benefactors and sponsors responding to the fundraising campaigning initiated by Tue Tam VH Charitable Group, Vinh An Bridge (Tue Tam Bridge No. 30) in An Lac Village, An Binh Commune, Cao Lanh District, Dong Thap Province, is finally put to public use in the joy of the local residents.
Though construction had started as early as on 02 September 2018, the progress was rather slow due to high tide, and the bridge was only officially finished by end of December 2018, being the 30th one in the list of charitable bridges built by social joint efforts and fundraising under the campaign led by Tue Tam VH Charitable Group.
Vinh An Bridge (Tue Tam Bridge No. 30) is 35m long, 2.8m wide, and has a trafficking load of 2.5 tons. Upon completion, the bridge serves over 300 families in the commune. The total construction cost is VND175 million, of which VND40 million worth in cash and working days are contributed by the residents, the rest are funded by numerous benevolent corporate and individual benefactors and sponsors far and wide who have been accompanying Tue Tam VH Group to date in its charitable community serving projects.
The former bridge was built in 1980 of wooden planks, many of which were rotten and broken with age leaving wide gaps on its body. The bridge’s narrow width and lack of handrail further made crossing extremely difficult and unsafe, especially on the rainy-windy days, when accidents frequently happen from loss of footing on slippery surface.
Now in the warm sunlight of the year’s early days, the sturdy bridge stretches out to greet happy pedestrian and vehicle passing over it in the delight of the residents living on the two banks.
Members of Tue Tam VH Group and the representative of the local government perform the inaugural band cutting formality, safety prayer offering and traffic opening ceremonies in the people’s witness.
In this new bridge inauguration, Tue Tam VH Group and benefactors donate gifts of VND300,000 worth each to 10 families with difficulty conditions in the commune and a VND2 million worth memorial gift to the communal people’s committee.
Representative of the local government further makes a speech thanking the benefactors and sponsors for their help financing the construction of the bridge to serve the communal need, and present the certificate of merit to the representative of the benefactors and sponsors.
The chairman of An Binh Commune informs that the construction of the bridge is made possible both by the invaluable financing of numerous benefactors and sponsors in affiliation with Tue Tam VH Group and the determination and joint effort of the communal residents, who all contribute their working days, meals and services in course of the construction – tired but happy, as the bridge is now their utmost care.
Watching the smiling, bright, innocent faces, we feel a warm sympathy for the hard-working people, plighting from the early daylight to late at night to make ends meet, who from now on shall comfortably tread the bridge with their mind at peace.
On behalf of over 300 family households in An Lac Village, An Binh Commune, Tue Tam VH Group expresses its deep gratitude to all benefactors, sponsors, friends, brothers and sisters far and wide who have joined us to make this dream bridge come true.
